Snowfall warning in effect from Environment Canada for Banff, Canmore, Kananaskis. 20 cm is expected in the next 24 hours.
The Weather Network is predicting 10-15 cm. The forecast high for Saturday is -10 and Sunday -16.
Don’t forget the grooming demonstration at Lake Louise on Sat from 1-3 pm at the middle parking lot near the lake. They should have some fresh snow to work with if the forecast holds true. I believe they are going to try and have all the trails groomed between Friday a.m. and Sat a.m. If you missed my previous post about this, scroll down a bit and read “Snowcat grooming at Lake Louise.”
This comment from C. Anderson is relevant to the discussion:
“Parks Canada in Lake Louise has asked that we all ski the trails and then complete an online survey by January 31 at http://www.skiopinion.ca. This is a Parks Canada website administered for the purpose of this survey. By showing our support, they will seriously consider purchasing the machine. Please share this information with your friends and join us in thanking Parks Canada for providing exceptional trail conditions and a wonderful ski experience for all.”
XC skiing in Okotoks
Hi Bob,
I just wanted to give you an update about our ski club in Okotoks. We have managed to raise enough money to purchase a used snow mobile. The late Bob, of Hawk Ridge, has donated a track setter/groomer to our club; which was so fantastic of him…it’s too bad we won’t be able to meet him or thank him in person. So, as it stands now we should be able to open to the public by early February. I will let you know when our grand opening is…it would be nice if you could attend?? We have a Facebook group called Crystal Ridge Nordic and any questions can go to Jim Hiscock at saltboxdesign@gmail.com
Regards,
Nigel
