Perfect weather. Perfect snow. Perfect tracks.
Are you getting the idea that it was a perfect day? You’d be right. I can’t imagine it could get any better than today.
We were elated to learn at the PLPP Visitor Centre that Whiskey Jack and Pocaterra were trackset last night. We started from Elkwood and skied a 24K loop including Wheeler, Whiskey Jack, Pocaterra(6K downhill fun fun fun), Lynx, Amos, Woolley, Meadow, Lodgepole.
It was -3 when we started skiing at noon and was -3 when we finished at 2:30. The blue wax worked fantastic, and the glide was fast on all trails.
The most difficult thing you’d encounter today? Finding a parking spot. The cars were lined up on the road at Pocaterra. The Visitor Centre was busy, but Elkwood never seems to get jam-packed.
The weather forecast is predicting 5 – 10 cm of snow for tonight in Kananaskis and a high of -9 on Sunday. All the nice grooming may be covered with fresh snow by tomorrow. The trails around Kananaskis Village were groomed last night including Terrace, Kovach, and Aspen.
Cindy just reminded me to request information on West Bragg. I see they’ve recently groomed some trails at Sandy McNabb. All comments are appreciated.
Lots of good comments have come in for the Contest. Two more days to enter.
I did West Bragg for the first time today. East on the Crystal Line, Sundog Loop, and west on Crystal Line. There was some ice under the snow but nothing to get worried about. The ski track grooves were deeper over by the Moose Connector. It was a Great day on Blue wax.
I’m just wondering if anyone tried the trails out at West Bragg Creek today. I’m thinking of skiing Telephone Loop on Sunday. Thanks!
