Like mid-winter conditions

Debbie was admiring the spectacular views from the top of the Elk Pass hill….and so was I.

I’ll let Debbie and Dave tell the story of today’s skiing:

What a great Saturday afternoon at Elk Pass ! On top of the at least 40 cm of recent snowfall, the trails were freshly track set on Friday night, and the snow conditions were excellent, very quick on the downhill slide ! Seemed like mid-winter conditions. Hydroline was also track set, but not Blueberry….yet.

To top off a great first ski this year, we met up with Bob Truman and Cheryl at the top of the first big climb. Bob was pretty happy with the early season conditions, and Debbie and I introduced him to our group from the Norsemen. Bob is quite well known and much appreciated by our club members. Bob, we’re very thankful for this website that keeps us posted with the most recent updates on trail conditions !

Still in Peter Lougheed Park, Pocaterra trail has been groomed(not trackset) from the hut up to Packers junction. That’s a distance of 7K. You can see a photo below.

The air temperature at Elk Pass parking lot was -2, and the snow was -5. There was a wind warning out today, but it was calm on the trails.

The Banff trail report is showing that Cascade Fire Road is now trackset. Was anybody skiing there today?
