I received this email from Bruce Barker of the Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association:
As you may know, Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development held an information session on Aug 2. Thank you to those who were able to make it out, and if you were unable to attend, the sessions are now available for viewing on-line at ESRD
http://www.srd.alberta.ca/Wildfire/FireSmartCommunities/BraggCreekFireSmartSession/Default.aspx
This includes the powerpoint presentations and video recording of the event. The proposed logging map with recreational trails is on Spray Lakes Sawmills website under the Quick Links section: “Bragg Creek Harvest Plan map”
http://www.spraylakesawmills.com/
ESRD is inviting input and public submissions until midnight, Sunday Aug 12.
Session 2, Greater Bragg Creek Zone 3 Containment Area holds the crux of the presentations, as it outlines the proposed containment lines, cutblocks and trail overlaps. It should be noted that during the presentations, several speakers suggested that the GBCTA had input and implied that the GBCTA ‘endorses’ the plan. While the GBCTA has provided input several times as to the negative impacts that the cutblocks will have on the trail system, and the containment lines have been reduced, we are not satisfied with either the containment line locations or the proposed mitigations that Spray Lakes Sawmills or ESRD is prepared to offer at this point to keep the integrity of the trails.
This is your chance to provide comments to ESRD, so please provide your feedback, and circulate this email to those who you feel would also be interested.
thanks for all news
