– Co-leading a Calgary Ski Club trip with Adam in 2003 –
Many readers of this blog will have crossed paths with Adam Noel at some point. He was the president of the Calgary Ski Club in 1998 when I joined, and over the years
we became good friends and shared many ski trips, hikes, dinners, drinks, and interesting conversations. Adam played an important role in my developing a passion for xc skiing. He was fun to be around. I am saddened by his passing, but my life is richer for having known him.
Here are a few comments from the Calgary Herald’s memorial guest book from Adam’s friends:
“…was compassionate, intelligent, spiritual, generous, good looking, hospitable and fun to be with.”
“Over more than ten years I enjoyed many hikes, skis and meals with Adam and friends. I will always remember two outstanding acts of generosity. One when he wore my pack down from Carthew Alderson in Waterton Park a distance of 8kms as I was limping with a sore knee. The other was on All Soul’s Prospect at Lake O’Hara when my California nephew was shivering and Adam without hesitation offered him a much needed sweater. I will miss having him around and I am pleased to know his passing was peaceful.”
