Trackset for family day

Ribbon creek, Kananaskis village trails were trackset last night. Tracksetter Jeff gives this report:

“Ribbon Creek had up to 20 cm of new. Ribbon, Link, Kovach, Terrace Loop reset tonight with great conditions. All the Kananaskis Village trails reset with the exception of the S turns below Aspen due to the construction there. Lower Skogan, Skogan Screamer, Ruthies and Troll Falls set tonight as well. Skogan above Marmot Junction not groomed with over 20 cm of nice cold fluffy snow should be a great family day ski.” Take note, there’s no access to Kananaskis Village from the south end of Kovach.

The Banff trail report shows that Cascade Valley was groomed and trackset yesterday, but I expect it snowed over the fresh tracksetting.

Canmore Nordic Centre: “We’ve received 10 – 15 cm of snow in the last 36 hours. All major trails were groomed after the snow had stopped. Trails will be in some of the best conditions we’ve had this season!”

PLPP: No tracksetting has been done. “New snow blankets the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park ski trail system! All trails are covered with 17 cm or more of fresh snow that fell starting Saturday evening Feb. 16th. With the busy long weekend, many nordic skiers have left good skier-set track. Skiers should expect to use skier-set track or break trail.”

Does anyone have information on whether West Bragg received this snow?

  1. I am not sure about you Gord, but Helen definitely followed the marmot call, and was breaking the trail almost up to the mid-mountain lodge. You rock, girl! Next time just ski down from the point you stopped, and in a few hundred meters you would indulge in surrounded mountains’ views. See you again on the trail!

  2. That Marmot is calling my name this morning! Woohoo!
