I received an email this morning from Alasdair regarding Shaganappi conditions.
…and here’s the latest from Jeff at Lake Louise:
“Dave did pack out the Upper and Lower Tramline with the 60″ YTS Ginzu Groomer yesterday ( from the Fairview Trailhead location down to the Train Station Trailhead and back up .. 2 passes wide ). He did not set a track, just packed and combed the snow. He mentioned a few thin spots where the trail narrows and the side hills are exposed to ground.
People are able to ski it but should be aware of potential hazards and rough spots.
No Track setting planned over the next few days. Need more snow.”
The total distance of Tramline from the train station to the Fairview trailhead is 4.8K and has a net elevation gain of 195 metres.
The Fairview/Tramline trailhead is at the end of the Chateau/lake parking lot and is a good alternative for skiers who want to access Moraine Lake road. The MLR parking lot will be overflowing on the weekends, and you could find yourself walking up to 500 metres on the road to reach the trailhead. It’s a pleasant 1.7K ski from the start of Tramline to MLR trailhead.
