Thanks to everybody who left trip reports over the weekend. They’re very helpful to this blog’s thousands of readers in determining where to ski.
I recently wrote an article for Tourism Canmore-Kananaskis Beginner’s Guide to Ski Trails in Canmore and Kananaskis. One of the things I specifically pointed out was that good snow conditions are probably the single most important consideration for a beginner skier. Hopefully the tracksetters will be able to do something with the icy trails this week. The new snow we received on Friday night should be of some help. Take note this article covered only Canmore and Kananaskis, and not Banff or Lake Louise.
My team is registered for the Lake Louise to Banff Loppet on Sunday Jan 18. The race will once again be a short one, only 50K, due to the Healy creek bridge being out. Registration is full but you can still get on the waiting list.
I have some good news for all loppeteers who are staying in Lake Louise on the night before the race. The Mountaineer Lodge is offering a special rate. A room with two queen beds, which includes breakfast, is $125. With the loppet start time being 9 a.m, the pre-race meeting will be at 8 a.m, therefore we might actually have a chance to eat. When you book, mention promo code SkiRace to get the discount.
I am disappointed in myself for spelling a name incorrectly on my Saturday post, but Giselle was thrilled to be featured on this blog anyway. I sent her some additional photos and she wrote,
As everybody knows, getting your picture on one of Bob’s blogs is “like getting your picture on the cover of the Rolling Stone”!
