Dog-friendly ski trails

I love seeing dogs when I’m out skiing. I post an update once every winter to remind everyone where you can ski with your dog. The ultimate authoritative guide is my page Dog-friendly Ski Trails

There’s lots of confusion surrounding the inaccurate brochures for Ribbon Creek and Mt Shark. The information regarding dogs on the brochures is incorrect. Dogs are allowed on-leash at Ribbon Creek/Kananaskis village and Mt Shark.

Dog are allowed off-leash at West Bragg Creek but are required to be leashed in the parking lot

I regret not taking a photo of the big flashing sign as you enter the West Bragg Creek parking lot which says Dogs are required to be leashed in Provincial Recreation Area. This is accurate but it can be misleading to anyone not familiar with the various jurisdictions. The Provincial Recreation area is basically the parking lot.

As you ski out of the parking lot on Mountain Road, you’ll see the sign(pictured) which indicates you are leaving the Provincial Recreation Area. Thereafter, dogs can run offleash.

As you ski out of the parking lot on Crystal West and approach the bridge, you will see the sign where you can unleash your dog.

As you ski out of the parking lot on Sundog and cross the bridge, you will see the sign which indicates you are entering the off-leash area.
