It appears the final touches are being completed on the Healy creek bridge in Banff National Park. The Healy creek trail is still closed from
the Sunshine end, but if you cast your gaze about 200 metres down the creek, you can see the new bridge. I haven’t had any official word from the Park, so this is simply my observation.
I biked from the Cave and Basin a while back, and the trail is open all the way to the bridge. There was no ramp from that side to access the bridge, but that was about two months ago, so I’m guessing it should be in place by now.
The beginning of the trail(from the Sunshine end) is completely different from the the old one which was washed away in the floods of 2013. The new parking lot is larger and now features a proper outhouse.
With the new bridge, it will be much quicker and easier to access the Brewster creek trail which goes to Sundance Lodge. It was quite a hassle to start at the Cave and Basin over the past two years. From the Healy creek trailhead to Sundance Lodge is 10.5K; 1.8K on Healy creek and 8.7K on Brewster creek.
Ski season isn’t too far off. The stores are starting to display their winter gear. Lifesport posted this today on Facebook…
