This was one of those days where your skis seem to move you along with barely any effort. It might have been 24K of the easiest, most pleasant skiing I’ve ever done.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such great conditions on Moraine
That 24K consisted of 17.5K on the Tyrwhitt loop in PLPP, then another short loop of 6.5K starting at Kananaskis village.
The trails near the village were in good shape, perhaps a little glazed at lower elevations but VR45(-2/-8) worked well. The tracks were fast and I skied 6.5K in the blink of an eye.

Grooming activity in Banff and Yoho
I was pleased to read that Cascade valley in Banff National Park was trackset today. In Yoho, the Kicking Horse Ski Club reports “There are fresh tracks on Horse Trail, Alluvial Fan and the lake shore trail(Tree Hugger), pretty slushy at the end of the lake so advise folks about that!” A subsequent update says “Kicking Horse, Tally-Ho to Field and Yoho Valley Road got groomed today by Joe.”
