With the Ski Tour coming to Canmore, there are some changes to the Canmore Nordic Centre’s parking and skiing arrangements. Thanks to Ken Hewitt for this update:

Just a reminder to cross country skiers about the upcoming Ski Tour Canada World Cup races which run next week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday). On these days, there is no public parking at the Nordic Centre prior to 4:00 PM, and people are asked to use the free public shuttle buses from downtown Canmore. Public skiing is available every day. On race days, people will need to take their skis up on the buses, and then after 4 pm they can drive up and ski.

Preparations are now well underway, with parking lot closures (Lot 1, Lot 5) and some selective course closures (Centennial, Olympic) already happening.

That said, most courses and parking lots will be open to the public through this coming weekend (March 5/6). Watch for skidoo traffic, workers on the courses, and equipment, cables, platforms etc in places you might not expect to see them.

We have a winner!

I went to the Market Bistro this morning for breakfast and while there, I had chef Anthony make the draw for the $50 dinner in the Ski Tour Canada contest. Congratulations to Kate for winning the prize.

If any of the Canadian skiers who were picked by the contestants happens to get on the podium during the Ski Tour events in Canmore, we’ll have a draw for an additional prize.

The Canmore events start on Tuesday March 8. You can watch today’s races in Quebec City live on the internet.

The trails at Mt Shark were groomed and trackset last night. It appears from the Trip Reports that tracksetting is underway again in Lake Louise.

One Comment:

  1. Thanks, Anthony, for picking my name! You’ll be seeing me soon. And thanks to Bob for the contest. Let’s hope we can celebrate some personal bests in the races next week. Go Canada go!
