-Watridge Lake road at Mt Shark. Photo from last year-
According to the Live Grooming Report for Mt Shark, Watridge Lake road has been trackset. The remainder roll-packed. Here’s the full report:
Dec 7th: While conditions are improving at Mt Shark, the snow base is still quite thin and many natural hazards exist throughout the system, including uneven surfaces, exposed dirt and rocks, brush, and possible open water or ice crossings. The full system was groomed on Dec 7th, with a combination of snow cat and snowmobile. The snow cat was on Watridge Lake Trail, the Blue 2k loop and the biathlon area, with only Watridge being track set from the parking lot to the Lake. The remainder of the system was snowmobile rolled.
The Canmore Nordic Centre’s Live Grooming Report shows a longer section of Banff trail has been trackset along with some more new trails.
I went for a short ski at the nordic centre yesterday and could see that a lot of trails had snow, and the snow guns had been removed, which told me their opening was imminent, and today’s Live Grooming Report confirmed it.
The snow and air temperature were both -21°C. A few hardy souls were out skiing, maybe a dozen or so. The snow guns are creating quite a lovely mist over Canmore including some beautiful rainbows if you’re looking into the sun.
I’ve added five new photos to the Emerald Lake Lodge contest page including the one at the side from MaSid. His couch-building in PLPP is becoming legendary.
