One more day of great skiing

Goat Creek on Dec 28, 2016

It was a pleasure to read yesterday’s trip reports. Great conditions and weather just about everywhere. My thermometer in Canmore is showing -10°C this morning.

Goat Creek was trackset yesterday, and Spray River West was done on Friday, so there would be no better time to do those trails.

If anyone reading my Skogan Pass update(or the three trip reports about it) is encouraged to give it a go, consider starting at the Stoney trailhead and skiing the Stoney trail which has been groomed to Hay Meadow which would soon connect to Ruthie’s and then up to the Skogan junction. Tracksetter Jeff is looking for feedback on Stoney trail conditions. I don’t recall Stoney trail ever being groomed for skiing before.

The large ice flow on Lower Skogan was still passable yesterday, but will soon be a significant concern.

If anyone has a few good photos from Sandy McNabb, I’d be interested in getting them for my “library.” I’d like to be able to show a few pictures of the area when referring to it in blog postings.

The weather for the next few days is not our friend and will wreak havoc on a lot of trails. Not only the melting, but the wind can blow tree debris all over the trails. Better get out there and enjoy it today.
