Update on Moraine Lake road

Fri Nov 3 @ 7:10 a.m: We’ve all been wondering about the status of MLR. Barb heard a rumour that it was packed. This trip report was submitted last night by Eric R:

“Started early afternoon today MLR .solid coverage ,machine groomed till 2/3 way up ,then machine tracked till turn-a-round.
dusting of snow all day and -10 snow.”

Eric also checked out Cascade and the Canmore Nordic Centre. Read his full report on the Trip Reports. Keep your eye on the Trip Reports, and if you venture out, let us know what you find.

I can’t find any grooming updates on the Parks Canada trail report for Banff/Lake Louise.

More snow has fallen overnight, so I’m hoping those needles and thin spots on yesterday’s grooming in Kananaskis will now be covered.

I hope someone checks out West Bragg Creek today.

This report was submitted this morning on Bow Valley Road Conditions:

“Canmore to Banff at 5:30am was winter driving conditions but at the bottom of seven mile hill the road was completely snow covered and snowing hard. Limited visiblity and when a car passed me it was a white out.”

I followed the track of this recent snowstorm and headed to west Bragg Creek trails. I skied West Crystal Line to Loggers Loop and down Sundog back to parking lot. There was at least 40cm and I didn’t hit one rock! It’s was skier set, I did some of the first tracks but the snow was cold and light. A very good early season ski. I stopped at the incredible “Heart of Bragg Creek” coffee shop where I was met with incredibly hospitality and organic baked goods, coffee and chai and hot soups! The cafe is right across from the Bragg Creek Mall. Well worth the stop.
