Update Sat Jan 20 @ 9:05 a.m: Adam has informed us the tree has been cleared.
MaSid took this photo of the deadfall on Elk Pass today and remarked,
“Too big for my saw! Cleaved itself into the west third of the trail pretty good. No way around it to the right for machinery given the drainage and trees. I removed a number of branches to allow skier passage. But that’s all I could do.”
I have an update on Brewster Creek coming later tonight.
There was 2 trees actually Bob as mentioned in my post: the other just uphill (south) from picnic table at Packers junction on Pocaterra-much more perilous situation than on Elk as this one was fully across trail into trees with no bush go-around and on downhill run. I’m assuming that one didn’t get taken care of with tracksetting stopping where it did (?). Ski safe.
The groomers snowmobiled the trail but did not see it, suggesting that a skier(s) may have already removed the one on Pocaterra.
Must’ve been extra hands behind me -as long as it’s gone, all the better then!
The tree on Elk Pass was cleared last night
