I enjoyed a lovely mid-afternoon ski at Confederation golf course. I don’t think conditions could be much better.
The snow is clean, there’s good coverage, and the tracks are crisp and well-defined. The snow was cold but I had excellent glide and perfect grip with VR30(-10/-30).
The driving range was even better if that’s possible. There’s a 5-lane training grid for classic and a w-i-d-e skating lane for skaters to practice.
The air temperature at 3 pm was -10°C with bright sunshine and no wind.
The parking lot is open and there is a porta-potty on site.
After skiing, I crossed the street and took some photos at Canmore park. I was wishing I hadn’t taken off my ski boots. It looked absolutely fabulous.
Thanks to V. Bell for the info on Maple Ridge golf course:
“Newly groomed, and (mostly) track set today, for skating and classic skiing.”
Skogan Pass, Skogan Loop, Hay Meadow, and Ruthie’s were trackset today.
The Sandy McNabb trails were trackset again today(and some yesterday). JeremyN has already submitted a trip report from there and says “best ever.”
We’re always looking for volunteers to help with snow farming. Regular sessions on Wednesday evenings, 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Sign up on the Calgary Nordic Alliance website here: https://www.volunteersignup.org/EHBPL
We did a bunch more snow farming last night (Wednesday) to build up the base on some of the areas that get the most wear and tend to melt out faster. Things are in very good shape now!
Glad you enjoyed the efforts of our wonderful volunteer groomers and snow harvesters!
