This bodes well for the trails at West Bragg Creek.
The Weather Network has issued a snowfall warning for Kananaskis including West Bragg Creek and Sandy McNabb. It also extends to Canmore.
It does not include Calgary, Banff, or Lake Louise which will receive lesser amounts of snow.
According to the various forecasts we should expect to see around 10+ cm of snow.
“A band of snow will continue to bring significant snowfall amounts to the Alberta foothills today. Total snowfall accumulations will range 10-30 cm in some locations. Higher amounts are possible over higher terrain. Snow will continue throughout the day today and begin to taper off this afternoon for northern regions, and over southern regions by Wednesday morning.”
This storm is predicted to drop 6-8 cm at Lake Louise. Another system later in the week is calling for at least an additional 5 cm. Hopefully it will be enough to allow the start of grooming on Moraine Lake road.
The webcams are showing accumulating snow all along the Trans Canada highway from Calgary to Lake Louise.
Let’s consider ourselves fortunate to have this early snow. I see that Sovereign Lakes in Vernon, BC has delayed their opening due to lack of snow. West Yellowstone has a lot of bare ground showing on their webcam.
