Perfect conditions…for klister

I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to use “perfect” and “klister” in the same sentence, but the skiing today at Canmore Nordic Centre was really excellent…as long as you had grip.

I prepared a set of skis with universal klister and when it works, it’s great. Excellent grip and super-fast glide. I don’t think waxless skis would have fared very well today because the tracks were icy, not soft. It went down to -10 last night and only got up to +3.

The snow coverage is excellent on the natural snow trails. I skied on Banff Trail, Meadowview, and Silvertip.

My photos pale in comparison to the ones which Chuck provided of his trip today, so make sure you read the Backcountry trip reports and view his Paradise Valley photos. Also good to know they were tracksetting on Moraine Lake road today.

  1. Mar 15th: I would like to know whether Goat Creek from Canmore to Banff is skiable now and what it’s like. Our seniors’ bus is going out Friday and we’d love to do it, if possible. Thanks.
