Update Fri Nov 28 @ 6:20 pm: Parks Canada Tracksetter Jeff reports from Lake Louise… “Machine packed the Upper and Lower Tramline and the Bow River Loop. Machine packed and rolled MLR. No track set…. Was -20C at the top end @ 5 pm.
Andrew and I appreciate the positive feedback. Thanks. Busy the last few days! Will concentrate on getting caught up tomorrow.” (I believe Jeff was referring to the comment made by November 28, 2014 at 1:05 pm) (
Update Fri Nov 28 @ 5:20 pm: It’s now up to 43 cm. Glad I have a steep roof. Just heard on the radio that it took two-and-a-half hours for a commuter to get from Calgary to Canmore.
The Snow Forecast has been quite accurate for this storm so far, and is predicting a further 20 cm for K-Country, but it looks like Lake Louise has almost run its course with only 5 cm more.

What trail are you going to ski first? There should be a lot of choices in a few days, however I expect that it will take some time for trail crews to get up to speed with packing, grooming, and tracksetting.
The latest measurement from my back yard indicates 30 cm of accumulation in Canmore since this all started. The wind is blowing like crazy and I’d have to call this a good, old-fashioned blizzard.
Travel is not recommended on the Trans Canada Highway through Banff National Park.
The reason you haven’t seen any Live Grooming Reports from the Canmore Nordic Centre is because they’ve shut off the devices in the snowcats. A few minutes after a trail is groomed and trackset, it’s all blown in and you’d never know it had been groomed. I think it’s a lost cause for now.
Canmore Nordic Centre this weekend
Alberta Cup race has been cancelled this weekend due to the weather. Biathlon NorAm is still scheduled to race. Biathlon trails will be closed for the Biathlon NorAm/Calforex #1 this weekend, November 29th and 30th. There will be limited trails available for the public.
According to Kananaskis Country Public Safety, the nicest weather right now is on a mountain top.
Goodness, can’t we have some of that out here by Priddis? Only 5 cm here and no more in the long range forecast. But ir’s just as cold as everywhere else…
Where to ski first??? Hmmm, what a luxurious dilemma to have :-). Guess it depends on what gets set first and which area I decide on.I can’t go this weekend so I will be watching here religiously throughout the week as usual for any trip reports that are posted. Welcome to ski season everyone!
