PLPP grooming and tracksetting

PLPP grooming and tracksetting

Lots of tracksetting occurred in PLPP last night. All the green on the map is new. It will be interesting to know how much snow accumulation is on the other trails. It was snowing pretty heavily when I left Pocaterra at 5 pm yesterday.

I registered our team for the Lake Louise to Banff Loppet this morning. Just in time, too. Registration opened at 8 a.m. and was sold out by 8:15 a.m. As this morning’s update remarks, “The hardest part of the loppet is over. Getting in!”

Loppet special 2016After two years at 50K, we’ll be back doing the entire length of 72K now that the Healy creek bridge has been restored.

The loppet starts at 8 a.m. on Jan 24th. If you are one of the early skiers, and you’re staying overnight in Lake Louise on the 23rd, the Mountaineer Lodge is offering a special rate for loppet skiers. 20% off any room for the dates Jan 21 – Jan 25. Use this link which already has the promo code embedded.

I’ve updated the photo entries for the Emerald Lake Lodge contest, including this submission by Nancy Renaux:

While we’re on the subject of Emerald Lake and Yoho National Park, the Kicking Horse Ski Club has announced the date of their fundraising dinner. The KHSC is responsible for grooming the trails in Yoho and you can support them by attending, or buying a $40 membership in their club which also has other benefits such as the $119 week night special at Emerald lake Lodge.

One Comment:

  1. While it’s snowing in the mountains, it’s Chinook ing out here in the foothills and over the last two days nearly all our snow is gone. No end in sight either. Back to brown!
