Finally – we have snow!

I’ve enjoyed skiing on Moraine Lake road(10 times so far), but I’m ready for some new trails, so it was encouraging to read all the reports of mega-snow today, especially from PLPP. We might be able to award a prize in the Elk Pass contest soon, I hope. There can’t be too many eligible entries left at this late date.

I can’t wait to hear how much they got at West Bragg Creek.

It sounds like there was significant snowfall at Lake Louise which should open up more trails. Kananaskis Village with 10 cm will get some snowmobile packing started.

Great news from Natalie re: Redearth Creek. I’m hoping we’ll get some more updates on the Banff trails.

The final tally at my place in Canmore was only 5 cm but it will give the nordic centre a much-needed boost. They’ll be adding to it in the cold days ahead with man-made snow.

I also received this update from Alex(Guest Services) at Emerald Lake Lodge:

“We have had roughly 15-20cm of snow here at Emerald Lake, however the lake is not yet frozen so trails have not been set for cross country skiing.”

I will take this opportunity to introduce our next contest, Win Two Free Nights at Emerald Lake Lodge. Click over to the contest page to leave your entry. As always, you get one entry for a comment, or two if you submit a photo. Although we award a great prize for this contest, I always feel like I’m the winner because of all the wonderful photos and comments which are submitted. You can submit a photo of anything. It can even be an old, old picture from days gone by such as this one from Diana…

3 Comments:

  1. Hooray for snow!

  2. Sunshine’s Rock Isle Lake cam shows the rocks on the hill are completely buried by snow, and that appears to be a wind swept spot too. Good sign!

  3. Hi Bob. George here in West Bragg Creek, Elk Valley to be exact. We have about 8 cm down at the south end on Iron Springs. Maybe a smidgen more. But it’s still snowing lightly. Hopefully soon there will be enough for Jeff and Bill and co to get out to roller pack. BTW, the sub-base has never looked better. Now we just need more snow.
