Update 9:55 a.m: The snow has stopped and the sun is shining in Canmore. The webcams show snow-covered roads. The trails at Canmore Nordic Centre are being groomed.
Thursday Mar 16 @8:20 a.m:
I woke up to a huge dump of snow overnight. My deck has 14 cm of new snow and it’s still coming down. Temperature is -3°C.
This was posted at 8:10 a.m. on the Facebook page “Bow Valley Road Conditions” from a motorist driving Canmore to Calgary:
That was one of the worst drives I’ve had in over 6 years of commuting… Super heavy snow, plows hadn’t been through yet, low low visability, people doing 40kmh… Clears EB after SLH, but is starting to snow in the city now.
I believe SLH = Scott Lake Hill.

Weather changed quickly… wasn’t too bad at 6am when I put my son on the bus to Banff ?….. now there are vehicles stopped everywhere and the roads are covered… zero visibility.
The webcams show a snow-covered highway at Dead Man’s, Sunshine and Castle Junction. The road is clear at Lake Louise.
Nakiska is reporting 20 cm, so Ribbon Creek/Kananaskis Village trails should have new snow.
Grooming occurred on the south trails in PLPP last night. Check the Live Grooming Report for details.
