West Bragg

Steve Riggs was at West Bragg today. Read the comments below for his report.

Shaganappi Golf Course

Word has it that Shaganappi will be groomed and trackset today. With any luck, you’ll be able to get an updated trail report later here Calgary Ski Club Shaganappi

Goat Creek/Spray River.

Goat Creek and the West side of the Spray River loop was trackset on Tuesday, but conditions near the Banff end(0-5K from Banff Springs Hotel) is still in rather marginal condition. Exposed rocks, dirt and grass are frequent. That part of the trail is considered to be the “West side of the Spray River Loop.”

Canmore Nordic Centre

The Banff Trail loop on man-made snow is in excellent condition(that’s the loop which is lit for night skiing). From daylodge back to daylodge it is 5.1K.

The Banff Trail on natural snow is trackset but has lots of grass and dirt in the tracks. You can always step out onto the corduroy to avoid most of these hazards. Meadowview trail was a little better.

No pics due to a broken camera.

Ski Trip on Saturday to Ribbon Creek

Today’s updated Kananaskis trail report says that Ribbon Creek is still in fair to good condition. With a forecast high of +1 tomorrow, it shouldn’t deteriorate and we should have pretty decent conditions for our ski club trip on Saturday. We have eleven signed up so far but you can still join the fun. Liz will be meeting everyone at 9:30 at Edworthy for carpooling. Cheryl and I will be driving out from Canmore to meet you at the Ribbon Creek trailhead. For more details Calgary Ski Club.

Troll Falls is a short side trip which we can make from Ribbon Creek

  1. Shaganappi should be very good after being groomed- I was there on Tuesday evening and had good skiing in skier set tracks, with 10 or so cm of new snow above old grooming.
Sunset ski at West Bragg on Thursday- Newly groomed and trackset on many trails after 5 cm of new snow. It looked to me like the groomers have flattened some of the previous well defined set tracks- for some reason?
Very good conditions on Sundog-Crystal Line East and West-Moose Connector, a bit slow compared to the very fast skiing enjoyed last weekend.
Get out and enjoy it before the dreaded chinook rolls in.
