Trail conditions at West Bragg Creek continue to be excellent. I did the Sundog-Elbow-Iron Springs-Crystal Line loop today in ideal conditions. We had a clear blue sky, light winds at -4C and a dusting of snow on nicely groomed tracks.
The trail groomers were out again today, refreshing the tracksetting on several of the trails. The Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association has to be congratulated for the fine job they have been doing all season on these trails.
The parking lot was about half full, which means a lot of people were enjoying the trails mid-week.
If you enjoy these trails, please take a moment to pick up the brochure at the trailhead and purchase a Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association membership, or consider making a donation. This will help them continue to maintain and improve these trails in the future.

Karen and I skied the Moose Mtn Loop on Saturday the 21st and while we certainly enjoyed the ambient air temps and the blue skies, conditions @ Bragg Creek are quickly deteriorating. With the anticipated warm spell for next week, it will be a while before we return to the heady conditions of the past few weeks. On a sidebar, the parking lot was filled to over-capacity but of interest was the increasing number of people drawn to snowshoeing. I would guess that 50% of those at Bragg Creek on Saturday were there for a short hike to field test their newly purchased snowshoes. Snowshoeing also seems to be a communal past-time as packs of eight or more venturing out on Telephone Trail were the norm rather than the exception. An interesting phenomena indeed!!
Great website! I refer to it often.
West Bragg Jan 21st midday’ish… the winds on Thursday night threw down a lot of pine cone pieces and needles. Really made a huge difference to quality of skiing even if there was enough snow to cover all the ice flows. That said it was perfect for my wife’s first outing of the year whilst I struggled to keep up with her as I pulled our kid in a chariot w/ skis. Certainly noticed that CNC’s grooming makes life easier whereas WBC I was pulling the chariot through soft pack snow for 75 mins. ouch. WBC could do with a few more cm’s to cover up the debris.
