It was the final grooming of the season in PLPP, making for wonderful tracks and snow conditions in the south end of the park.
Most of the ice (previously water puddles) were adequately covered on the lower sections of Whiskey Jack. The air temperature at Boulton Creek trailhead was -2°C when I started up Whiskey Jack at 1 pm.
Skiers were having mixed results with wax today, but at higher elevation, the snow was a lot colder and in beautiful condition. I was using waxless skis today, but on Tyrwhitt, I could have been using purple wax.
The Elk Pass tracks were very inconsistent with varying conditions. Some icy sections, some wet snow in exposed areas, and occasional excellent stretches.
Bob,
Thanks so much for this great website.I may not post many comments but I sure read your articles on a weekly basis 🙂
We are planning to head to PLPP this evening, do you happen to know if the conditions have been decent in last couple of days ? I heard Sunday was good, not sure about last couple of days….thanks so much
Marie
PS : are the PLPP trails lit ?
Thanks again 🙂
Go to the March, April Trip Reports page and read the recent comments from Maurice, Barry G, RA, and Martin J for an update on the PLPP trails. The PLPP trails are not lit.
Also yesterday afternoon there was still decent snow but it was melting fast at the Boulton Creek campground area 🙁
