This is how Mary’s trip report should appear:
Mary has a way of making words come alive, and I can paint a vivid picture in my mind. Beautiful!
Thanks to everyone for the updates. I’m still down with this horrible flu/cold/cough. I don’t think I’ve come this close to death since being hit head-on by a semi on the highway 27 years ago. Feels the same, but this recovery is a lot slower!
I probably set myself back by venturing out on the weekend when I should have stayed home, but it’s near impossible for me to stay away from the loppet. I think I may have turned the corner today, and will hopefully be back out on the trails soon.
Nice to see that West Bragg Creek has risen from the ashes. Check the Groomer’s Reports for the latest good news.
The LL to Banff loppet which was held this past weekend was sold out in 15 minutes, but there are others which still have room(and probably much better conditions!).
This weekend it’s the Nipika Loppet with a race distance for every member of the family, for every age, and every ability. There’s a classic race on Saturday and a skate race on Sunday. I see from the Zone4 confirmation list that 170 skiers are registered so far.
On Sat Feb 25 the Foothills Nordic Ski Club presents the iconic Cookie Race, aka the Kananaskis Ski Marathon in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.
Go to the Loppets page to see a list of other upcoming loppets.
Hope your feeling better real soon. We are from Saskatchewan and love reading your updates. Thanks for all your effort we appreciate. Wish we lived in Canmore so we could enjoy more diverse cross country skiing. Hope to be spending more time on the trails there soon.
Hope you are feeling better soon, Bob! There will hopefully be many more blue wax days for you this season.
Don’t forget the Canadian Birkie on Feb 11 – classic 55 & 31, skate 29.
Thanks for fixing my poem, Bob. Hope you get better real fast. We want to see you out on the trails again!
