West Bragg Creek update from Groomer Jeff:
Hello ski enthusiasts!
5-10 cm of new snow has fallen in Bragg Creek in the last 24 hrs. Conditions on core trails are very good to excellent. This includes the following trails which have been groomed and track set this morning:Bunny, East and West Crystal and links, Sundog, Hostel Meadow, Elbow Trail and Loggers Loop. Note that there is a large ice flow just under the snow on the Chickadee Meadow. We are not recommending travel over this particular trail.Elsewhere conditions are variable due to sun exposure, thin base and ice flows. These trails include Mountain Road, Mountain View West, Mountain View, Moose Loop, Iron Springs and Hostel Loop.
Please use caution on these trails as they are not in prime condition! More snow is in the forecast and with a little more coverage they will become more serviceable.
Thursday 10:50 a.m(updated, previous report said .5 cm):
The Kananaskis Village trails are being groomed this morning. Here’s the report:
Approximately 5 cm of new snow on the village trails and the best ski conditions are on freshly groomed/trackset trails. Higher elevation trails such as Skogan Pass have up to 10cm of new snow. Caution advised on Terrace trail towards Ribbon due to thin, icy conditions.
Thursday @ 8:15 a.m:
With the Cookie Race being held this Saturday in PLPP, the grooming schedules have changed a bit. Mt Shark, which is usually groomed on Thursdays was done last night. Here’s this morning’s report:
It started snowing lightly on the trails at Mt Shark on the afternoon of Feb 22nd and continued throughout the overnight period, with a total accumulation of at least 5cm’s by the morning of the 23rd. Expect at least a skiff of snow on all fresh grooming, up to a few cm’s on Watridge Lake trail.
I’ve only received 2 cm in Canmore but it should help the natural snow trails at the nordic centre which are being groomed right now. Banff trail has been completed and the Pisten Bully is working on Meadowview as I write this. Check the Live Grooming Report to see which trails were completed.
It appears that West Bragg Creek might be the winner from this latest snowfall. They already had 6 cm yesterday afternoon according to the report from Greg Foord and the forecasts seemed to indicate they would get more.
Looking at the webcams, Sunshine overpass appears to have fresh snow but very little at Castle junction or Lake Louise.
Please say hi from Henry!
Thank you so much Bob, your info about CNC is much more reliable than the official site where quite often grooming and track-setting is reported and nothing was done at all.
Anyone have any idea how much snow K-country got last night?
Any relation to Tim, ex-UWO nordic ski team? -)
Yes, my hubby
Nakiska website shows 11cm in the last 24h.
