Just a quick note to report on our family’s ski week in BC’s Okanagan Valley at Kelowna Nordic and Sovereign Lake & Silver Star Nordic system.

Besides top notch daily piston-bully groomed track, we enjoyed some VERY well managed dog-friendly trails. Distinct and well marked trails (zoned) with fair rules, ample, clear signage and even Baggie dispenser stations a nice touch to keep conflicts to absolute minimum -a few tips and ideas the WBC & Kananaskis stewards could incorporate to benefit all users.

Cheers,
JeremyN of Okotoks

The usual Monday night grooming occurred in PLPP, that is the trails on the west side of the road.

If you’re thinking of skiing the Bill Milne, Evan-Thomas, and Wedge Connector trails, be sure to check the remarks on the Live Grooming Report. It sounds like some sketchy conditions in a few places.

I didn’t ski today but had occasion to be at the Canmore Nordic Centre this morning where conditions looked fabulous and I took the photos in the gallery below.

  1. The Goat Creek to Banff trail was excellent today. There was still enough snow on top of the ice to provide a good snow plow where needed. A bit icier from the Spray River Shelter to the Banff side parking lot, but on the whole the trail was in very good condition for another day!
