If you’re looking for a scenic, easy, dog-friendly trail, check out the Bow River loop at Lake Louise. I had a wonderful ski there with Tessa yesterday afternoon.
The snow and trail conditions are excellent. This trail sees lots of foot traffic but the tracks are in perfect shape and the snow is cold. The air temperature was -5°C in mid-afternoon. Great grip with VR45(-2/-8) and the glide was fast. Really, the skiing seemed effortless.
You can park at the campground and do the south half of the loop, the north half, or the entire 9K loop(including campground loop).
Later, up at the lake, the temperature was -8.
Headlamp – FOUND Tuesday evening (Jan. 16) at the Canmore Nordic Centre
Pipestone –
The trails were indeed set!
Not much traffic on them yesterday- very solid perfect tracks.
At 10:30 it was still -14. With old Vr 45 and 50 wax covered by 30 it was a bit slow in places. But beautiful, crystal clear day. Parking lot pretty busy by noon.
Including a pack of 15 snowshoers!
