If you’re looking for a scenic, easy, dog-friendly trail, check out the Bow River loop at Lake Louise. I had a wonderful ski there with Tessa yesterday afternoon.
The snow and trail conditions are excellent. This trail sees lots of foot traffic but the tracks are in perfect shape and the snow is cold. The air temperature was -5°C in mid-afternoon. Great grip with VR45(-2/-8) and the glide was fast. Really, the skiing seemed effortless.
You can park at the campground and do the south half of the loop, the north half, or the entire 9K loop. You can add on another K by doing the campground loop as well.
Later, up at the lake, the temperature was -8.
The Pipestone trails were trackset yesterday according to the Banff/Lake Louise trail report.
The temperature this morning at my place in Canmore is -7. The Weather Network is saying it’s -2, but be skeptical of that.
