West Bragg Creek update from Groomer Jeff:

“Your intrepid grooming team has not let the cold get the best of them!

Trails have not been better than this all season, and if you’ve got the courage to beat the cold, fresh tracks await.

Core trails have all been groomed and track set and are good to excellent for both classic and skate skiing.

They include: East and West Crystal Lines and links, Sundog, Mountain Road, Hostel Meadow, Moose Connector and Loop, Loggers, Bunny, and Chickadee.

Outlying trails such as Iron Springs, Elbow, Telephone, Hostel Loop, Mountain View and Mountain View West vary from good to poor condition depending on location and are still not recommended as abundant natural hazards exist due to an unconsolidated base.”

Ice flow on Bill Milne trail

After reading Rhonda W’s trip report, and Tracksetter Jeff’s reply, I’m relieved that Rhonda didn’t get in any “deeper” than she ultimatley did. Being waist deep in cold water on a -19°C day could have been….cold! The big ice flow on the Bill Milne trail now has a reroute and signage at each end.

  1. The groomers seem competing silently for who can make the best ski trail with whatever quality snow one may have at their disposal. These tracks and corduroy on the picture above look pretty awesome, the five stars job done!
