Pipestone is open

Pipestone. Photo by Chuck

If you’re thinking of going to Pipestone for the first time this winter, Chuck’s photos will show you which section of the trails is closed, and where to start.

Thanks for all the trip reports. With the mild weather, it’s more important than ever to get first-hand reports of the conditions throughout the “empire.”

Loppet Update

Results have been posted for today’s Nipika Loppet (Classic style). The skate goes tomorrow.

The Golden Nordic Ski Club’s Huckleberry Loppet is next weekend, Feb 1 and 2.

Check out other upcoming races on the Loppets page

  1. I finally got an email response from parks about the lack of useful details regarding the pipestone partial closure. Ended up suggesting they post the closure map that chuck showed on the important bulletins page like all the other closure maps. Regardless, glad it’s open and the couch location is accessible. I’ll be visiting shortly to build an appropriate structure for plonking ones potato on.

    • Love your couches, love Pipestone. Thank you for making it even more special than it already is ,-)

      • (-: Couch HQ is now easily accessible on all manner of skis given the excellent off trail travel with the warm temps settling the snowpack. A wind wall protecting the couch also got built yesterday for more comfort on those not so perfect days.
