Going forward, conditions are looking hopeful

It looks like we have been rescued from hellish ski conditions by new snow and cooler weather. Let’s give the trail crews a few days to whip the trails back into shape with fresh grooming and tracksetting.

Where were you at 2:20 on the 2nd day of the 2nd month of 2020?

West Bragg Creek, PLPP, and Canmore Nordic Centre all had new grooming last night and/or today.

Chuck, who took the photo at the right on his Boom Lake trip, asks: “Where were you at 2:20 on the 2nd day of the 2nd month of 2020?” I highly recommend clicking over to see the wolverine tracks.

Ray Perrott gave us another reminder to be careful in the icy parking lots.

Calgary Ski Club trip to Ribbon Creek. Jan 9, 2010

Has this ever happened to you…

When I ran into Abraham a couple weeks ago on Kovach, he reminded me of an incident that happened 10 years ago. It took some searching through the dusty shelves of the blog’s archives, but I found the blog post from that day. This excerpt is from Jan 9, 2010 after a trip with the Calgary Ski Club:

Kovach Lookout

“When arriving at the Lookout, it’s common to take your skis off and pose for photos. Today, one person(not with our group) accidentally let their ski go back down the hill! Abraham(from our group)skied back down the steep hill and rescued it after it had gone a considerable distance. Be careful when removing your skis at the top of a hill!!”

Abraham said the ski followed the curvature of the trail and it went a long distance down the hill!
