No toilets at the trailheads in Kananaskis

We heard it from Helen on her trip report, but here is the official announcement from Alberta Environment and Parks…

“As part of Alberta’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are striving to maintain public access to our outdoor spaces, but all AB Parks indoor facilities, including washrooms and vault toilets, as well as permanent outdoor shelters within Kananaskis Region and across the province, are now closed to public access.”

Remember the 80’s? No snow in mid-January

Remember the 80’s?

We’ve had plenty of snow this winter, but it wasn’t always like this. Tracksetter Jeff from Ribbon Creek has been grooming trails for 40 years and remembers when there was  no snow. He sent the photo of the snowmobiles and this comment….

“Seeing your picture from Olds reminded me of what grooming was like back in the 80s. We had 4 people and 4 of these old Alpines. There were also more trails up on Mt Allen pre Nakiska. Also there were years of no snow this picture is on Hay Meadow taken in mid January.”
