Snowfall update

March 7, 2020

There’s a snowfall warning in Kananaskis, Banff and Lake Louise for today and tonight. That includes West Bragg Creek but not Calgary.

Nakiska is reporting 12 cm of fresh snow overnight. I expect you’ll be breaking trail on yesterday’s new grooming on Skogan Pass. Should be an easy descent.

The Mud Lake weather station indicates 23 cm in the past 24 hours.

Ski Louise had 18 cm overnight. It’s difficult to see anything definitive on the web cam for Lake Louise(the lake).

In PLPP, Lower Pocaterra, Lynx, and Come-Along were groomed last night but will have fresh snow on top.

I’m still in the southern U.S. where the forecast is calling for +30°C.

  1. Avalanche control work happening Sunday affecting roadways, in all the usual spots (whymper, Dennis, field, borgeau, etc), possibly continuing Monday. Likely EEOR/spray lakes hill to get added to the mix.

  2. Followed Jeff the groomer up Skogan Pass and it was terrific conditions! Decided to go around Sunburst & High Level as we had caught up to the groomer tracks. With the recent snow it was a nice down to the parking lot.

    Thanks Jeff!

    • Thanks Sue I was wondering who the skiers were. You were following the excellent grooming of tracksetter Alex. I was just the rescue ship.
