Not much more than a trace of new snow has fallen in PLPP in well over a week, and Friday night’s grooming was again completed under a clear sky, with no wind. Earlier in the week, very strong wind gusts dropped large and numerous tree bombs (especially at higher elevations), as well as other plentiful tree debris, some substantial in size.  Expect this debris mixed in to the top layer of snow on trails groomed after (and possibly including) Jan 18th, and on top of older grooming.  There is also a possibility of trees down on the trails.

Temperature at the Lower Lake is -23.

Bill Milne and Wedge Connector

Jan 22 Bill Milne and Wedge Connector groomed this evening. The skate lane will have reduced width for the time being with small snow chunks on the margin of the lane that skate skiers might find challenging. The classic track is in good condition. With the exception of Upper Skogan trails, the majority of trails in the Ribbon Creek / Kananaskis Village area have been groomed since the warm weather and wind subsided a few days ago. Conditions remain quite good despite the recent weather. Snowpack is thin and at a few trouble spots some obstacles may appear. Hills may become icy with use. Ski with care.

For the Bill Milne trail, you can now park at Kovach pond or the golf course. Do you have your Kananaskis parking pass?

Temperature at Hay Meadow is -22.

Mt Shark

The Mt Shark trail report doesn’t show Watridge Lake road as being trackset, but from these reports I think it may have been completed…

“Jan 22 Arrived to -19, pure blue sky and freshly set tracks. The groomer was just leaving the parking lot. Skied the 15km loop and conditions were fantastic! Snow was great, tracks were fast and the scenery outstanding. Thanks for the great track setting guys!” -VanB

“Freshly groomed… Pretty much perfect conditions.” – Eric

The temperature at Mud Lake is -26.

Lake Louise

  • Upper Telemark
  • Peyto

The Weather Network shows a temperature of -21.

Canmore Nordic Centre

A number of natural snow trails had the skating lane groomed. On man-made snow the trails were groomed and trackset. Check the CNC trail report for details.
