This photo was sent in by Ribbon Creek tracksetter Jeff at 2:55 pm. You can look at the Live Grooming Report and make an educated guess. I would say it’s a specific section of the the Evan-Thomas fire road, perhaps the part that was rebuilt after the floods of 2013? It has some hills, but it also has narrow bridges which I didn’t think you could get through with the snowcat.
The photo below was sent in earlier from the Bill Milne trail, where Jeff estimated 12 cm of new snow. Should be some good skate-skiing in the days to come.
You are correct it is the new and improved Evan Thomas fireroad. There is still a section about 150 m where the trail and bridges are too narrow for my snowcat but at least now the trails on either side are nicely groomed making it far more enjoyable to complete the loop. For the record Bill Milne is now groomed and trackset from Ribbon Creek to Wedge Pomd there are still thin spots north of the Golf Course but the skiing should be pretty good for the next couple of days.
