Update 11:20 a.m. from Helen Read at Lake Louise: “Groomers just went laying trail and packing skating lane at Moraine Lake road. -5 at Great Divide and only 11 cars in that lot.”
The Lake Louise trail report indicates 7 cm of new snow.
Jan 3: Peter Lougheed Provincial Park: Trails trackset last night include Pocaterra, Come-along, Rolly Road and Lynx.
Update: A report from the PLPP Discovery Centre indicates 15-20 cm of new snow.
The PLPP trail report has these remarks:
Fairly moist snow began falling on Saturday afternoon and continued throughout the Saturday night grooming period, with about 3 to 4cm’s accumulation in the north end by the time the grooming was complete. At higher elevations snow was falling with somewhat less moisture content, but with more intensity. As the snow is forecast to continue, expect at least a few cm’s or more of new snow on all trails. The wind also picked up again on Saturday, so expect needles and other tree debris mixed in to the new snow as well as abundant “Snow Bombs.”
West Bragg Creek: Every trail at WBC is listed as marginal. Skiing is not advised on Telephone Loop. Needlemania and fallen trees persist throughout the system. See previous update for photos and details.
