Feb 4, 2021
I hope you checked the trip reports yesterday. I was fascinated by Alf’s “Back to the Future” with photos. It looks like Goat Creek is in prime condition right now.
Today(Thursday) and Friday will be the last two days of mild temperatures before the cold snap begins on Saturday.
West Bragg Creek:
“After the beating Mountain Road took yesterday, we decided to re track set it to the cattle guard. Also track set last night were Mountain View, and Moose Connector. Temp last night was -17 so the new track setting should be solid! Within the last 24 hrs, the whole system with the exception of Telephone has been groomed and track set. More snow is on the way.”
PLPP: Last evening’s tracksetting, which will not have fresh snow on top, included Whiskey Jack, Tyrwhitt, Upper Pocaterra, Fox Creek, Boulton Creek, Moraine. Trails trackset early on Feb 3 will have 10-15 cm of fresh snow. See trail report for details.
“The usual Wednesday night shift was pushed back to Friday (as long as everything goes according to plan, and the snowcat has returned from repairs), as Public Safety will be assessing avalanche hazard on Elk Pass on Thursday. Instead, the usual Saturday night shift was bumped up (and Tyrwhitt was added), and no new snow fell during Wednesday night’s grooming.”

Very little tracksetting at CNC. Some trails were groomed. Quite disappointing really.
