Real snow from the sky! I returned to Canmore late this afternoon and was greeted by 2 cm of snow in my back yard. I managed to get a couple laps of skiing on Frozen Thunder as dark was falling. It was still pretty good on my waxless skis. I could see a lot of skiers had been out there today, enjoying the only groomed snow in North America.
If you were out skiing today and are missing any clothing, I took a photo of all the items that were still laying around. Check the photos below.
The Blackjack race team from Rossland has a blog posting about the past week in Canmore. You can read about it here Blackjackskiteam. They were my featured photo on Oct 18 How fantastic is this?
We’re getting more entries into the contests than I expected at this early date. The best thing about our contests is the thoughtful, sometimes amusing, comments which readers make. Thankfully, every SkiHere reader is far more articulate than the moderator. Here are two that should remind us how fortunate we are to be living here…
Jane from Michigan writes…”she simply wanted to taunt me by showing me that the Canmore nordic center is open for skiing. So now I get to wait another long, painful month here in Michigan before I can strap on my skis knowing that those lucky folks in Canada are already out skiing in the mountains…Winter cannot come fast enough!”
Cindy Heselton…”The trees had snow and ice garlands that shone as they were melting making it a winter wonderland. Walking along, I was imagining myself already on cross country skis, smiling with the anticipation of winter.”
