Last night’s violent wind storm felled a couple trees on the Goat Creek/Spray River trails, with one of them at the bottom of a fast downhill.
In the direction I was going, from the Goat Creek trailhead to Banff, it wasn’t a big issue because I navigated under the tree as I was going uphill. If you were going Banff to Canmore, you could very well be screaming down the last hill to the Goat Creek bridge and see it too late.
There is another one on Spray River west, about 300 metres from the Spray bridge at 9K, also on a downhill, but it can be seen from a distance and there is just enough room to slip past it safely.
