It looks like Calgary received more snow than expected and Canmore received less. I have about 6 cm at my place in Canmore. At 9 a.m, the sun is starting to peek out in the east but the west looks like heavy cloud cover. It’s -21°C. More snow is predicted for today.
The weather station at Mud Lake indicates 21 cm of snow yesterday which is consistent with the report from PLPP which received 15 – 25 cm. The ever-optimistic Snow Forecast was correct this time.
Confederation Golf Course was groomed and trackset yesterday. Check the trail report for details.
The West Bragg Creek trail report indicates 8 cm of new snow and some trails were trackset yesterday.
All the main trails at the Canmore Nordic Centre have been groomed and trackset this morning and I would expect that conditions will be excellent on the natural snow trails.
Last night’s grooming in PLPP includes Elk Pass, Blueberry Hill, Tyrwhitt, Hydroline and Lookout. Here are the remarks from the Live Grooming Report:
“On Saturday between 15 and 25 cm’s snow fell in the Park during the day and the snow tapered of on Saturday evening, giving way to very light flurries overnight. Expect significant accumulations of snow on all trails other than the South end trails which were groomed overnight Saturday in to Sunday morning; as of 7AM there was only a trace of new snow on top of some of the fresh grooming.”
I imagine the Banff tracksetter will be out working somewhere today. He usually grooms Cascade Valley on the first day after a significant snowfall.
