The Lake Louise Loppet is being held today
When all was said and done I ended up with 10 cm of new snow since Friday. The sky in Canmore is showing lots of blue, there’s no wind, and the temperature is -13°C.
Most of the trails at the Canmore Nordic Centre were groomed last night. Don’t go by the Live Grooming report. Check the actual CNC trail report for updates.
The PLPP Live Grooming report indicates that Whiskey Jack, Packers, and the long downhill stretch of Pocaterra from Tyrwhitt to Lynx were groomed last night…
“Snow has been falling on and off since Thursday evening and it continued to fall steadily throughout the day and night on Saturday, and it was still snowing lightly at 6:00AM on Sunday morning. Since Thursday evening, upwards of 35cm’s has fallen on higher elevation trails, with less at the north end and at lower elevations; the majority of this snow has accumulated during the last 24 hours. There will be at least a little fresh snow on all of Saturday nights grooming, and up to 30cm’s or more on the south end trails that were groomed on Thursday night.”
Cascade Valley and Upper Bankhead in Banff National Park were groomed yesterday. I’m guessing that Spray River and perhaps Goat Creek will be groomed today.
The Kananaskis Village and Ribbon Creek trails were groomed early yesterday so they will likely have a small amount of fresh snow on them.
Many of the Sandy McNabb trails were groomed yesterday. This might be a good day to check them out with races going on at West Bragg.
I imagine the crews are busy grooming at West Bragg Creek. The Alberta Youth Championships will be using the meadow and West Crystal trails. Trails are open to the public.
