“Absolutely terrific”

Those were the words of the U.S. women’s national ski team coach Matt Whitcomb when I spoke with him late this afternoon on Frozen Thunder. He said this snow and track is phenomenal.

When will skiing begin?

Not soon enough in my opinion. Anyone else getting the itch? Today I will be digging out my ski clothes and wax bench. If the past is a good indicator, it looks like we’ll have skiable snow

Update: The floods of 2013 have completely wiped out the trail and covered it with deadfall and rocks. Only the most determined hiker could make their way by bushwhacking around the debris.

Enjoyable spring skiing at Canmore Nordic Centre

The new snow seems to have motivated a number of skiers to take advantage of these good conditions because the CNC was a busy place today.

Sunday Apr 15 @ 7:40 a.m. The GPS map from the Canmore nordic centre shows that most of the trails have been groomed and presumably trackset overnight. It snowed a lot yesterday
