As we await the snow to fall, we’ll play our annual game of Guess the Trail. No prizes for this, just bragging rights. Click on the photos for a larger image. Write your guesses in the comments section at the bottom.
There is a unique and distinctive feature in each photo that will help you determine which trail it is. In #1, I’ll accept the name of the trail OR the venue.
That’s my friend Chip in #2. We skied this trail last winter on a very cold day(snow temp was -20°C) where the snow felt a bit like sandpaper. This trail should be easy for a blind skier. (Hint: Hydroline does not have 2 tracks).
#3 should be easy so no hints.
#4. Looking east from this trail, you’ll see the distinctive shape of a notorious peak. I hope the flood damage is repaired because it’s one of my all-time favourites.
#5. You’ll see lots of skiers gathered at the end of this trail in November
#6. This is one of my favourite places for taking a picture
#7. If you ski 11K you’ll see this unique sight
#8. It’s in Banff National Park
#9. My nickname for this trail is “heaven.”
#10. This is the first feeding station at the Cookie race. What’s the name of the trail?
Good luck. Can you guess one, two, or all of them?
I’m a bit late doing this and I will do it without looking up the previous answers. 1- Canmore Nordic Ctr, 2- Powerline trail, 3-Elk Pass, 4- Goat Ck, 5- MLR, 6-top of Whiskey Jack at Pocaterra, 7- Cascade Fire Road, 8- Spray River west side, 9- Tyrwhitt, 10- Never done the Loppet; perhaps at Protection Mountain campground?
Not sure on some of them, but 100% sure that I want to go skiing!!!! Thanks for the tease, Bob.
