Little red trails

Note: These trails are no longer available.

I received this email and photo from Warren Smith, the tracksetter at Olds, AB.

“Here is a photo of part of our track setting outfit at the Little Red trails nw of Olds. The snow conditions have been outstanding for most of our winter-thankfully we don’t get the warmer temperature extremes of Calgary.

Our costs are funded by donations.”

The Little Red trails are dog-friendly.

This is at the corner of RR 31.

To find the trailhead: from Highway 27 west of Olds, go north for 11 km on Range Road 31.  There may not be a sign denoting RR 31, but look for the golf course sign, or the big dish which I’ve pictured.

Alternately, go north on Hwy #22 and turn east on Hwy 27 until you come to RR 31.

The final 11K are on a gravel road.

The trails are all on private land; the land-owners have graciously consented to the use of their property.
